Book Review – Hotel Magnifique
Hotel Magnifique is a fictional novel by Emily J. Taylor, best for ages 12 to 15, though it is a thrilling read for adults also.
This novel is a dark & twisty story of a girl who goes to work at a legendary travelling hotel—the perfect read for people who enjoy mystery, wanderlust, and magic with a pinch of romance. The book is brilliantly written, and the debuting author has a beautiful writing style.
In this storyline, orphaned sisters Jani (17) and Zosa (13) find themselves unexpectedly employed after spending the majority of their childhood barely getting by. Not only is the hotel spectacular, but it is staffed by magicians who perform incredible feats for the opulent visitors. The sisters’ job contracts, which had strong enchantments preventing them from leaving the hotel, are a perfect example of how rarely anything is as it first appears. Ever. But, Jani isn’t going to stop until she figures out how to return home with her sister in one piece, but the more she discovers about herself and other guests at the hotel, the more hope she loses.
Altogether, I found the novel to be enchanting and I praise the Author’s writing. All things considered, I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
