Good governance day, also known as ‘\u0938\u0941\u0936\u093e\u0938\u0928 \u0926\u093f\u0935\u0938’ is celebrated every year on 25th December, the birth anniversary of Atal Bihar Vajpayee. Good Governance Day was established in 2014 to commemorate Prime Minister Vajpayee by raising public awareness of government accountability in India. On this day the government works instead of taking a holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On December 23, 2014, Indian President Pranab Mukherjee announced the ninety-year-old former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as the recipient of India’s highest civilian honour for merit, the Bharat Ratna. Following the announcement, the newly elected administration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi established that the birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister would be henceforth commemorated annually in India as Good Governance Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many domestic, economic, and infrastructure reforms were implemented by Vajpayee’s government, including encouraging the private sector and foreign investment, minimising governmental refuse, encouraging research and development, and privatising some government-owned corporations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Highways Development Project and the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana were two of Vajpayee’s projects. The Vajpayee government launched the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan campaign in 2001, with the intention of improving education quality in primary and secondary schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
